HO SD40 Locomotive with DCC & Sound in Western Maryland livery, unit 7448, is a ready-to-run HO-scale model that captures the power and presence of a 3,000 hp SD40. It combines a faithful, injection-molded body with modern DCC and Tsunami2 sound, delivering authentic engine rumble, horn, and bell sounds for realistic operation on a layout.

New features include a newly designed can motor that is more powerful and quieter, bi-directional LED lighting, see-through dynamic brake and cab windows, and finely detailed components such as rubber MU hoses, separately applied wire grab irons, and a 4,000-gallon fuel tank. The model rides on Flexicoil-C trucks with high brake cylinders and uses McHenry scale knuckle couplers (Kadee-compatible) for authentic coupling. DCC-ready Quick Plug plug-and-play technology makes installation straightforward, and sound-equipped versions operate in both DC and DCC modes with dual cube speakers for rich, realistic sound. It is designed for reliable performance on HO layouts with a minimum radius of 18 inches (22 inches recommended).
