HO scale 57-foot Fruit Growers Express mechanical reefer with sound is a fully assembled, ready-to-run model designed to add authentic refrigeration-car realism to HO layouts. Based on prototype drawings and field measurements, this reefer reproduces the proportions and detailing of a mid-century mechanical refrigerator car, including see-through end screens, end platforms, and a complete underframe. The sound-equipped version features onboard SoundTraxx audio that cycles on and off to mimic real operation and uses minimal track power, with volume adjustable on the sound board; a data-only yellow variant is also offered.
Inside and out, the model delivers full underframe detail—Keystone cushioning, air brake reservoir, control valve, brake cylinders, brake plumbing, and a fuel tank—along with a highly detailed injection-molded body, machined metal wheels with RP25 contours, and a weighted chassis for smooth running. It supports 18" minimum radius curves (22" recommended) and features end ladders, factory door closure rods, see-through end screens and platforms, trainline hoses with silver ends, and three distinct coupler cut-lever styles, with McHenry scale-knuckle couplers and either body-mounted or truck-mounted brakes per prototype. The fleet can be finished in a grime-ready scheme with faded base colors to resemble an In-Service car, or offered as a data-only yellow variant for a specific railroad look.
