HO Reading GP7 Locomotive with DCC and Sound in the classic RDG livery (RDG 617) is a detailed model of the Reading’s GP7 diesel. This long-hood-forward locomotive recreates the RDG scheme with distinctive features such as L-shaped grabs on the short hood, cab rain gutters, and a Leslie S3L horn, all visible through a see-through cab with a full interior. This RDG edition marks the first appearance of the RDG scheme in the Genesis line, giving model railroaders a faithful mid-century Reading unit to add to a roster or layout.

Under the hood, the GP7 carries a Genesis driveline with a 5-pole skew-wound motor, precision machined flywheels, and a multi-link drivetrain for smooth, quiet operation. The heavy die-cast frame delivers solid traction, while all-wheel drive and electrical pickup, RP25-contoured wheels, and LED lighting contribute to realistic operation. Features include see-through cab windows, fine-scale Celcon handrails, etched radiator and fan grilles, a detailed fuel tank with fillers and gauges, and body-mounted McHenry scale knuckle couplers that are Kadee-compatible. It is DCC-ready with Quick Plug technology and a 21-pin NEM connector, and includes an onboard DCC decoder with SoundTraxx Tsunami2 sound and dual speakers. The sound-equipped model operates on both DC and DCC, with full DCC functions and NMRA compatibility for precise slow-speed control that supports prototypical operation.
